A friendly reminder that it’s important to help underwrite the media that is important to you.
See, that’s the thing about media. Some podcast or book or album is quietly saving someone’s life out there in the littlest, biggest way. The artist will probably never know, is wheeling and dealing to make their own life run, never quite sure if the thing they’re pouring their soul into is good enough. This is a chance to vote, to make it possible for someone to have the time and the money to create something amazing that will change someone else’s life. I mean, we should probably be doing that for all art, but podcasts are the best art.
I saw Michael Ian Black perform at MaxFunCon East. He brought his daughter Ruthie up on stage and she sat there the whole time, giggling. It was an awesome performance.

I’m so excited to announce the latest member of the MaxFun family: Throwing Shade!
Throwing Shade is a weekly comedy show hosted by Erin Gibson and Bryan Safi. Erin and Bryan first worked together on Current’s hilarious and dearly missed infoMania, where Bryan hosted “That’s Gay!” and Erin held down “Modern Lady,” looking at the funniest parts of the awful parts of being gays and ladies in America.
They’ve taken those themes and brought them to Throwing Shade, where they tear apart the most embarrassing and horrible parts of our culture’s sexism, homophobia and general wrong-headedness with wit and charm to spare. Seriously: these two are just exceptionally pleasant, funny people who also happen to not take any shit from anybody.
We’ve been secretly fomenting our plan to associate for a couple months now, but we’re finally ready to announce it, and I couldn’t be happier. Bryan and Erin are absolutely brilliant, and their show is crazy hilarious. And for God’s sake BRYAN HAS AN EMMY!
HOW MANY EMMIES DO YOU HAVE?! ALSO: HOW DO YOU SPELL EMMY IN ITS PLURAL FORM? ALSO: WHY AM I YELLING?!

I know as much about Men’s Fashion as I do about Women’s Fashion - which is to say nothing. This episode of PTO featuring an interview with film and television director Paul Feig has caused me to reconsider my office wardrobe. Nick Ragone pointing out that I have a stain on my shirt has also caused some sartorial soul-searching on my part.
